September 29, 2011 – Hour Magazine’s annual issue of Detroit’s Top Docs named five physicians from Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics as recipients of the peer-selected honor for 2011.
This is the 12th year that Hour Magazine has compiled a Top Docs list. All doctors in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, and Livingston Counties are eligible, and can only be nominated by MDs and DOs. The winning doctors are then determined based on the number of votes from their fellow physicians.
This year, three doctors were named the best in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine: David Mendelson, MD; Jeffrey Mendelson, MD; and Stephen Mendelson, MD. The three surgeons are brothers who joined their father, Herbert Mendelson, MD, in what became a family specialty.
Two other physicians from Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics also received the Top Docs distinction: Anthony Oddo, DO and Giuseppe Paese, DO, who are both experts in the fields of pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation.
“This is a real honor,” commented Mike Beaubien, CEO of Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics. “Just having one doctor on the list would be great, but having five named is extraordinary! All of the physicians at Mendelson Kornblum are skillfull, hardworking, and take exceptional patient care to heart. It’s nice to know their hard work and dedication has earned the respect of their peers.”
Mr. Beaubien continued, “The doctors and all of the staff at Mendelson Kornblum continually look at what we can do to best serve our patients as well as be of service to the healthcare professionals that we interact with every day. So it’s very rewarding to hear that the medical community as a whole recognizes this and expresses appreciation through the Top Doctor nominations and votes – and we thank them for that!”
Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics has grown from a single-physician practice that Dr. Herbert Mendelson established in the mid-1960s. Now, with 10 doctors, as well as a well-rounded team of physician assistants and physical therapists, Mendelson Kornblum offers advanced treatment options – including surgical and non-invasive technology – in traditional orthopedic care, joint replacement, spine and neck, sports medicine, foot and ankle, physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management, and outpatient physical therapy.
Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics has two offices to serve the southeastern Michigan area. The office in Warren is associated with St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital, and the other in Livonia is associated with St. Mary Mercy. Both hospitals are designated by Blue Cross Blue Shield as Blue Distinction Centers for Hip and Knee Replacements.
