I was facing a 7-month wait in London, Ontario. Synergy got me in for an MRI within a week, and I had my diagnosis and treatment plan a few days later. What would have taken most of a year back home took less than two weeks.

Everything Ontario patients need to know about cross-border MRI care.
No. You can book directly with us—no referral required. If you have medical records or previous imaging from your Canadian doctor, feel free to bring them, but it's not necessary.
You don't need one. When you call, our Canadian patient coordinator will ask about your symptoms and help determine the appropriate MRI. If there's any question about which scan you need, we'll connect you with one of our clinical team members before scheduling.
While X-rays only show bones, an MRI reveals the "soft" structures—like ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and discs—where many injuries hide. This detailed view is crucial because it tells your doctor exactly what's wrong, allowing them to choose the right treatment path to relieve your pain.
Absolutely—please bring any previous imaging on CD/DVD or have it sent electronically. Your specialist can use it to compare with your new MRI and assess disease progression or changes over time. This gives us a more complete picture of your condition and helps guide your treatment plan.
Provincial health plans (OHIP, etc.) typically don't cover out-of-country elective care. However, if you have private supplemental insurance, some plans do provide reimbursement for medical services obtained abroad. We provide detailed receipts with procedure codes that you can submit to your insurer.
If your specialist determines surgery is the best option, we can discuss self-pay surgical options. We have an on-site surgery center and can provide transparent pricing for procedures. Many Canadian patients choose to have surgery here rather than wait months at home.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Payment plans are available through Affirm if you prefer to pay over time. When we schedule your appointment, we'll send you a link via text or email to pay online prior to your visit through a secure connection.
Bring your passport or enhanced driver's license, any existing imaging (CD/DVD), a list of current medications, and your credit card for payment. If you have medical records from your Canadian doctor, those are helpful but not required.
You'll need a valid passport, enhanced driver's license, or NEXUS card. When asked at the border, simply state you're visiting for a medical appointment. The crossing typically takes just a few minutes. We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early for your appointment to account for any border delays.
Yes. You'll receive a complete diagnostic report and images that meet international standards. Canadian physicians regularly accept imaging from accredited US facilities. We can provide your results on CD/DVD or via secure electronic transfer.
We provide detailed itemized receipts with CPT procedure codes, facility information, and physician credentials. Submit these to your private insurer along with your claim form. Reimbursement amounts vary by plan, so we recommend checking your coverage before your visit.
