Did You Know- Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics Has Same Day Appointments for Acute Injuries?!

We all dread that moment.

The moment when you lose your footing going down the stairs, the moment when you catch the ball and feel your wrist snap, the moment when you swing your racket to hit the ball and feel your shoulder pop. Anxiety starts to set in as the pain creeps up and you realize you will probably end up spending the next 5-10 hours sitting in the Emergency Room. Sometimes you might try to walk it off, see if it feels better in a couple of hours because you really don’t have the time to go to the ER. Luckily, Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics is here for you!

Did you know that you can call Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics and get a same-day appointment for an acute injury? What’s an acute injury? Glad you asked!

What is an Acute Injury?

An acute injury is an injury that occurs suddenly and usually (but not always) associated with trauma. This type of injury can occur while being active or just by moving the wrong way coming out of a resting position. Frequently this injury is caused by a trip or fall.

Examples of Acute Injury include bone fractures, sprains, joint dislocations, or any type of joint, tendon, muscle, or bone pain that occurs suddenly.

When should I go to the ER?

If you think your injury may be life-threatening go to the Emergency Room as soon as possible. Examples of these situations include: if you have hit your head, have abdominal or chest pain, any injury that had profuse bleeding, any fracture in which the bone has penetrated through the skin, fainting or dizziness, sudden numbness or weakness, or difficulty breathing.

So, what should you do when an acute injury occurs? Don’t panic. Assess the situation, and if it is not life-threatening, take a deep breath and Call Mendelson Kornblum Orthopedics at 734-BONE-FIX (266-3349) and ask for a same day appointment.
