Dr. Brian Kassa is a board-eligible pain management physician at Synergy Health Partners, bringing comprehensive interventional expertise to patients at the Port Huron and Sterling Heights locations. With a foundation rooted in osteopathic medicine and physical rehabilitation, Dr. Kassa takes a whole-person approach to treating chronic and complex pain conditions.
Dr. Kassa earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan before completing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at both Bon Secours Mercy Health–St. Elizabeth Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan/Detroit Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pain management at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University.
His clinical expertise spans a wide range of advanced interventional procedures, including spinal cord stimulator trials and implantation, minimally invasive lumbar decompression, basivertebral nerve ablation, kyphoplasty, epidural steroid injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, SI joint injections, and trigger point injections.
Dr. Kassa is an active member of several leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and the Emerging Leaders in Spasticity group.
He has contributed to the medical literature as a co-author of Chapter 22: Lumbar Radiculopathy in McGraw-Hill’s Principles of Rehabilitation Medicine, a case study on radial nerve neuromodulation, and a review on medical cannabis published in a 2023 volume of a pain and neuroscience journal.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kassa enjoys playing hockey and golf, and spending time with his family.
