Dr. Steve Mendelson has a wide array of orthopedic expertise and practices general orthopedics in both our Livonia and Sterling Heights locations. Dr. Mendelson offers an alternative to the traditional hip replacement, called an Anterior Hip Replacement. He has a special interest in working with shoulders and emerging technologies for the treatment of orthopedic injuries.

He has a special interest in helping “GAP” patients with their knee pain using peripheral nerve stimulators.

He also serves as the Medical Director of the St. John Macomb Oakland Hospital Hip and Knee Unit.

I came in as a new urgent orthopedic injury. I was evaluated x-rayed and seen within 15 minutes. Dr. Mendelson gave me a diagnosis, called for an mri and gave me a follow up appointment within 45 minutes. Caring Dr. , intelligent and quick to responed to a new patient's needs.

I absolutely love coming here. Since my auto accident I have been having bad headaches and almost feeling like my shoulders are in a knot. They have my medicine prepared for me before I leave. I also was sent home with some therapy/ medical instruments I could use while I'm in between appointments. Everyone is nice and patient. I will definitely recommend anyone here.

Dr. Stephen Mendelson surgically repaired my right shoulder in May 2019. He used a state of the art titanium insert on top of the humerus. I am in my seventies and after required therapy my shoulder is again almost pain free. Although I have not regained full range I can play golf and tennis and the violin. It is very satisfying to have full use of my right arm and shoulder. I want to thank Dr. Stephen Mendelson for an excellent job and compliment him on his outstanding skills.

I have seen Dr. Acker, Dr Stephen Mendelson, and Dr Otto and all of them are amazing. Dr. Acker has actually been my orthopedic surgeon for nearly 15 years. He was with St Joes and then Oakwood before joining Mendelson and I have followed him to keep him as my orthopedic surgeon because he is an amazing surgeon amd Doctor. He genuinely cares about each individual patient he takes care of. He is patient and understanding. I have sent a couple people for Dr. Acker to treat and I will always recommend him and any of the other surgeon here.

I absolutely love Dr. Stephen Mendelson. He is the best! My very first visit with him was re: treatments for Tennis Elbow(Rt). He also did the Arthroscopy(Rt Knee) for a meniscus tear. Along with treatments for Osteoarthritis of the right knee. I never have problems with making an appointment to be seen. The office is always immaculate. Receptionists are polite. There is room for betterment when waiting to be seen at times. Yet, it is not always this way. Dr. Stephen Mendelson is very kind, and has a good bedside manner. He speaks in a calm, and reassuring tone of voice. He is very thorough, and knowledgeable, of the newest forms of treatment/procedures. All of the Medical Assistants, N.P.s, and P.A.s are very kind as well. The N.P.s, and P.A.s, are very knowledgeable. I received a Gel 1 injection to my Rt. knee on 09/28/21, and the P.A. did an excellent job at making sure I was comfortable. Well informed of everything she was about to do. Along with calming my nerves.
